While we wait patiently for the release of Ashanti‘s much-delayed Braveheart album and the inevitable chart slayage that will follow, the lovely R&B diva has mercifully dropped a seasonal EP to quench our thirst for new material. A Wonderful Christmas With Ashanti is a perky five-song set that positively exudes festivity.
Featuring tracks from a new Lifetime movie called Christmas In The City (it premieres December 7), the EP is the “I Got It” singer’s second seasonal offering. Ashanti’s Christmas reached number 160 way back in 2003, so new Yuletide fare was long overdue. See the tracklist and listen to EP highlight “Christmas Love” after the jump. More »
Tamar Braxton‘s emotional “All The Way Home” video is a family affair. For starters, real life husband Vince Herbert plays the R&B diva’s lover and I imagine her mansion is every bit as glamorous and tastefully decorated as the one featured in the clip.
There isn’t much of a narrative to speak of. Scenes of Tamar looking flawless are intercut with footage of a red Rolls Royce on the freeway. It’s a simple but effective visual that excels at conveying regret and longing — making it a perfect fit for the Sevyn Streeter-penned gem. Watch up top. More »
Did somebody say drama? In a just-unveiled extra scene from One Direction‘s This Is Us documentary, two of the band’s most beloved members (well, they’re all beloved) reveal that while they may be good friends now, it wasn’t always that way.
Apparently, when the group first got their start on The X Factor, vocalists Liam Payne and Louis Tomlinson butted heads — due to Liam’s responsible nature and Louis’ prank-happy tendencies. As Liam explains: “Me and Louis did not get on at all. We were two completely different characters. He was really loud and bubbly. I think there was one point where I literally wanted to whack him.” More »
Luke James reached a whole new audience as the opening act for much of Beyonce‘s blockbuster The Mrs. Carter Show world tour. The crooner’s passionate performances made him a crowd favorite and his Grammy-nominated vocal chops are undeniable, so expectations are understandably high for new single “Strawberry Vapors”.
The slick alt-R&B ballad documents the ever-dangerous act of getting high on love. It’s smooth, subtle and suitably intoxicating — much like the classy video which finds Luke chasing his lady through a deserted forest. There’s also some colorful smoke and the singer randomly starts floating at one point, so stay tuned for that! Watch up top. More »
Afrojack has been spinning a remix of Miley Cyrus‘ chart-conquering “Wrecking Ball” in clubs for months, and while various bootlegs and edits have made their way online, the full seven minute mix has been a closely guarded secret. That is until today (December 4) when the Dutch DJ uploaded it to his SoundCloud.
It goes without saying that this is an absolute monster remix. A pretty piano introduction gives way to furious electro-house beats and a male voice (or digitally altered Miley) shouting “I came in like a!” before the BPM subsides for the serial twerker’s sublime vocal. Listen to Afrojack’s epic dance overhaul after the jump. More »
Britney Jean might be Britney Spears most personal album but it unlikely to be her best-selling one. The opus is predicted to miss the top spot on the Billboard Hot 200 next week — making it her first LP to debut lower than number one since Blackout, which reached number two in 2007.
According to sales predictions, 115,000 – 120,000 copies of Britney Jean will be snapped up by fans this week. Not bad considering the lack of promotion and underperforming singles but still not enough to stop Garth Brooks leaping from number three to number one with Blame It All On My Roots — a two CD/six DVD box set available only at Walmart. (He is predicted to sell 150,000 copies). More »
