So here’s the thing with Fergie‘s appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show today: the “L.A. Love (La La)” chirpstress talked with Ellen about her kid and being part-owner of the Miami Dolphins, and Fergie did some funny accents and Ellen made quips about the singer’s barely-there outfit…but there was no music performance. Like, Fergie didn’t perform the song she was there to promote.
Sure, maybe there’s some big, secret marketing strategy, and the first televised performance of Fergie’s comeback single is being saved for another, more prestigious outlet. But it seems like a wasted opportunity, no? It’s not like the song is anywhere near the Top 10. More »
The secret’s (all but) out!
Taylor Swift has been sneakily giving her loyal Swifties bits and pieces of her new album 1989 for weeks and months now — from those #1989SecretSessions at her apartment, to Target commercials, to pre-release tracks on iTunes. But the wait is nearly over, and now, she’s inviting us…like, all of us…to a final secret session!
On Monday (October 27), Taylor will be hosting a live stream, just as she did when she announced the album, with both Yahoo and iHeartRadio at 7:30 PM EST. What’s in store? Well, that’s still a secret — obviously. We’re guessing a live album playback, or maybe even a performance. And, if the Yahoo announcement is anything to go by, Tay Tay might even be in a Halloween state of mind? “It would be downright scary if you missed it!” they ominously sign off. How positively ghoulish! More »

Sister Cristina raised her voice, and Madonna heard it. The 26-year-old Italian nun won The Voice Italy earlier this year after initially stunning her home country with her cover of “No One.” Now, in a bid for some attention-grabbing promo, the holy songbird has covered Madonna‘s “Like A Virgin” ahead of the release of her upcoming album (out November 11).
Her Madgesty apparently caught wind of Sister Cristina’s divine rendition, as she posted two Photoshopped images today on Instagram featuring herself with the Italian sensation.
“Like A Virgin? #bitinghard,” Madonna, who has had an infamous history with the Catholic church, captioned the one photo. On the other she simply noted, “Sisters for Life! #touchedfortheveryfirsttime”

Jasmine Villegas completely reinvented herself in 2014. The 20-year-old, who came to fame playing the love interest in Justin Bieber‘s YouTube-conquering “Baby” video, relaunched as a fierce urban-pop diva — complete with a major label record deal and a surprise feature from rapper Kendrick Lamar on new single “That’s Me Right There”.
The rising star recently dropped by the Idolator office in Los Angeles to pose for a photo shoot (above) and spill the beans on this exciting new phase of her career. Kiesza follows up her breakout single “Hideaway” with her latest offering, “No Enemiesz.” The song, off the chanteuse’s debut LP Sound Of A Woman, now has an accompanying lyric video. The clip has a total throwback vibe, complete with a fuzzy camera filter straight from 1992 and the verses written on birthday cakes, magazines, iPhones and more. Dimly-lit shots of people at an underground basement party are also interwoven throughout.
Watch the lyric video up top, and look out for the official visual tomorrow (October 24). Sound Of A Woman was officially released on October 21 via Island Records. More »
Taylor Swift stopped by The Ellen Degeneres Show today (October 23) to discuss some interesting, non-music related topics — like her bizarre fear of sea urchins. The “Welcome To New York” songstress revealed to the talk show host that she’s scared of the ocean creatures: “They’re like a grenade. They’re sitting there waiting to completely injure you.” She then goes into hilariously extensive detail as to why everyone should be afraid of them, to the audience’s amusement.
Swift was recently appointed as music advisor for The Voice, where she gets to spend a lot of time with the show’s judges. Watch the singer talk about Adam Levine‘s weakness after the jump! More »
Chvrches go on a psychedelic trip in their latest video for “Under The Tide.” The visual, directed by Sing J. Lee, combines Japanese anime with fuzzy space effects that takes the viewer on a wild journey. Martin Doherty takes the lead role, performing the track in between the animated clips. The song is a year old, but the Scottish synth-pop trio reworked it earlier this month that made for a refreshing listen.
“Under The Tide” comes from Chvrches’ awesome debut LP The Bones of What You Believe (released in September 2013). The band will also appear on the Lorde-curated Hunger Games: Mockinjay Pt. 1 soundtrack, which will be available on November 18. More »
After blessing us with her cute take on The Ronettes‘ “Be My Baby,” legendary songstress Bette Midler is back again this week with another selection — and arguably one of the most anticipated! — from her upcoming girl group-inspired covers album, It’s The Girls: TLC‘s “Waterfalls.”
The seasoned vet switches up the classic R&B production of TLC’s original for her take on the track, turning the song into a much more sorrowful, contemplative slow tune complimented by gentle piano melodies and subtle strings — even some light bongo action. It’s a soulful rendition, fit perfectly for The Divine Miss M’s vocals. Listen to Bette’s take on the track up top. More »
Aside from her chart-topping smashes like “Give Your Heart A Break,” “Heart Attack” and “Skyscraper,” Queen Demi Lovato is also known for her outspokenness, frequently opening up about everything from sexuality to body image to feminism — and this week is certainly no exception.
Her good friend Taylor Swift‘s been getting plenty of both praise and heat lately for her recent 1989 offerings like “Out Of The Woods,” which led her to speak out about what she considered to be “sexist” criticism for writing about her ex-boyfriends — and it seems that Demi’s in agreement with Tay.
In an interview with ET Canada, the “Neon Lights” singer backed up her friend, going on to say that Taylor’s one of the very few famous friends she has that has yet to be affected by fame. Check out Demi’s full comments after the jump. More »
