Calvin Harris Teases New Single, Video Or Something Or Other Called “Slow Acid”

Calvin Harris is currently riding high in the charts around the globe with John Newman-featuring single “Blame,” but behind the scenes he’s already on to the next one. Above you’ll find a snap the Scottish dance producer posted on his Instagram from what appears to be the set of a video shoot for a song called “Slow Acid.” Emil Nava, who lensed Harris’ “Summer” and “Blame” videos earlier this year, is the director listed on the clapboard, and, well, I guess we’ll just have to wait and see where this all leads to. (For instance, who might be lending their pipes to the song, if not Calvin himself?) More »

Nico & Vinz Release New Video For “When The Day Comes”: Watch The Inspiring Clip

Find Your Inner Warrior

After the smash hit (and one of our Songs of the Summer contenders) that was “Am I Wrong,” Nico & Vinz have now picked their follow-up! “When The Day Comes” is the third single from the Norwegian duo’s forthcoming debut LP, Black Star Elephant, set for an October 14 release.

The single and video premiered simultaneously, and the six-minute visual is quite moving. The child-like piano melody of the tune is juxtaposed by the dramatic nature of the video, where a Japanese warrior is on a mission to save a young boy from dying. It will definitely bring you on the verge of tears! More »

‘The Voice’: Anita Antoinette Turns Four Chairs, Lands On Team Gwen Stefani

Anita Antoinette The Voice Bob Marley audition 2014 Gwen Stefani
The Second Time Is A Charm For Anita

The Blind Auditions continued on The Voice Monday (September 29) night, and new coach Pharrell’s niceness is just getting weird. He outwardly supported his colleagues Blake Shelton, Gwen Stefani and Adam Levine in their pursuits of contestants…even when he’s also in the running. Either no one has explained the rules of the game to the producer/singer, or he decided to take an opposite approach to the “I know you want it, I know you want it, I know you want it” seduction technique from “Blurred Lines.”

Probably a good idea. More »

Kylie Minogue’s ‘Kiss Me Once Tour’, A Glittering And Nostalgic Celebration: Concert Review

Catching Kylie Minogue live in London? I should be so lucky — and in fact, I was!

Last night, the iconic pop diva discoed down to London Town for the first of three headlining nights at the O2 Arena on her Kiss Me Once Tour, which kicked off last week in Liverpool.

As opposed to the grand Grecian architecture of the Aphrodite: Les Folies Tour or the futuristic flashing screens of KylieX2008, the Kiss Me Once Tour is a vastly stripped-down affair in comparison: The stage consists of a single series of structural beams and, apart from the use of a few key props — a light-up pair of lips, a bathtub (more on that later), and of course, some sexercize balls — stays stationary the entire time.

Then again, Kiss Me Once was also a markedly quieter era for Kylie, who spent a majority of the time acting as a judge on The Voice UK as opposed to engaging in heavy promotional duties for her latest LP. But while this particular tour might be less of a visual extravaganza (no water fountains this time around, sadly!), the production stayed true to the very essence of Kylie: Campy smash hits, coquettish cooing and loads of confetti and glitter. Rixton Premiere Interactive “Wait On Me” Music Video: Morning Mix

Did you hear?

:: British pop band Rixton (known for their super catchy debut single, “Me And My Broken Heart”) have premiered their video for “Wait On Me” off their upcoming album Let The Road - right on Buzznet! The interactive visual is set in the 1920′s and is quite unique – the viewer gets to “chose their fate” throughout the video which affects its outcome. Watch it here now, and look out for Let The Road on January 6, 2015.

:: Denzel Washington is a famously talented actor, but who knew he could do impersonations so well? On a recent interview on The Queen Latifah Show, he did a spot-on impersonation of Jay Z - including his signature laugh! [Vulture]

:: Chris Brown has been on a mission to clean his act up, including clearing up the stories that he is gang affiliated. The singer sat down with MTV’s Sway, stating that he’s just “cordial” with some LA gang members. Um, ok? [MTV]

:: Snoop Dogg has always been the biggest advocate when it comes to marijuana, and the rapper’s latest venture is organizing a “Wellness Retreat Concert” in Alaska. But there’s a catch! He’ll only put on the concert if the state legalizes recreational use of the drug. We’ll see how that turns out… [THR]

:: Jason Derulo is speaking up about his recent break-up with girlfriend Jordin Sparks after three years together. He told Ryan Seacrest that the pressure of marriage played a strong part in the couple’s decision to split. [Ryan Seacrest]

Tinashe And A$AP Rocky’s “Pretend” Video Is Cinematic, Beautiful And Very Confusing: Watch

tinashe-pretend
Please Explain.

Tinashe hasn’t put a foot wrong since breaking big with ratchet party anthem “2 On” earlier this year. She followed that up with A$AP Rocky-assisted, Janet Jackson-channeling single “Pretend” and a bunch of equally gorgeous buzz tracks (“Feels Like Vegas” and Dev Hynes duet “Bet”). As such, the 21-year-old’s debut LP Aquarius is one of the most eagerly-awaited of the year.

While we wait patiently for that to drop, check out her beautifully shot yet utterly confusing “Pretend” visual. From what I understand Tinashe and A$AP Rocky has a thing in high school but everything got twisted due to strip club drama. (It happens to the best of us). There are also panoramic views of mountains and streams, and a scene where the rising R&B diva stands in the snow. As for the twist ending? I have no idea. Feel free to explain it to me in the comments below. More »

Jessica Mauboy Worked With Babyface On New Single “Can I Get A Moment?”: See The Cute Cover

The last we heard from Aussie pop diva Jessica Mauboy she was performing “Sea Of Flags” at Eurovision, which is kind of random given that Australia is exempt from the competition. Since then the 25-year-old has been working on her fourth studio LP with industry heavyweights like Kenny ‘Babyface’Edmonds, who wrote and produced new single “Can I Get A Moment?” (due October 17).

A snippet of the much-anticipated single hasn’t arrived yet but the song is described as “fresh, infectious and up-tempo”. I like all of those adjectives, so I’m hype! Since finishing runner-up on the fourth season of Australian Idol, Jessica has amassed 12 top 20 hits and starred in internationally acclaimed film The Sapphires. An international breakthrough is long overdue. Let’s hope Babyface can help make it happen. More »

Sam Smith Isn’t Completely Miserable In “Restart”: Watch The Cheerful Video

sam-smith-restart
Upbeat Sam

As much as I love Sam Smith‘s serotonin-evaporating ballads, it’s always nice to hear him sing happier, upbeat fare. Think his Disclosure collaboration “Latch” or Naughty Boy-assisted earworm “La La La”. The only song resembling those hits on slow jam-heavy In The Lonely Hour is bonus track “Restart” and it has been selected as the set’s next single — at least internationally.

The fifth cut from the 22-year-old’s debut LP (I always thought the tunes released before “Stay With Me” were buzz tracks) is a perky ’80s-influenced synth-anthem about bouncing back from a break-up. It sounds heavy-going but it’s really just a beautifully executed bubblegum pop. The video arrived online today (September 29) and it’s comprised of behind-the-scenes footage from the Brit’s various tours and a group outing to Brighton. See the lighter side of Sam up top. More »
