Diplo, King Of Beats, reigns supreme on the cover of the latest issue of Billboard Magazine.

The fascinating cover story details exactly what you might or might not have already expected to hear about the producer/DJ’s insane lifestyle, from jet-setting all over the world to working with an enviable cast of superstar acts, from Usher to Chris Brown to the Queen of Pop herself, Madonna.

The “Express Yourself” talent, who spoke to Idolator recently and revealed that one of the Madge tracks is called “Bitch I’m Madonna,” talked to the publication in-depth about speaking to the pop icon for the first time (via text!), and revealed that he’d been working on “four or five songs” alongside Ariel Rechstaid for the new Madonna LP, which he described as “just like amazing smashes.” More »

After honing her craft (and building her fanbase) with a string of cute buzz tracks and a party-startin’ EP, Becky G finally arrived in 2014 with fizzy pop anthem “Shower”. The Dr. Luke-produced earworm became the 17-year-old’s first top 20 entry on the Billboard Hot 100 and lead to supporting slots on tours with Demi Lovato, Jason Derulo and Katy Perry.

While we wait for the talented teen to put the finishing touches on her debut LP (due later this year), why not check out another killer “Shower” remix? You might remember that Jump Smokers put their spin on the track recently, well New York duo The Jane Doze do just as good a job of transforming the sugary pop delight into cool club fodder. Chris Brown Debuts Diplo-Produced Album Title Track, “X”: Listen

Drake & Chris Brown
The two move past their feud by hitting the studio. Read More »

Chris Brown‘s X has been a long time coming, thanks to a seemingly endless string of pushbacks and legal troubles. But it really is coming, and to prove it, Breezy’s just debuted the massive, Diplo-produced title track from the upcoming LP.

The track kicks off slowly and pensively at first, similar to Usher‘s own Diplo collabo, “Climax.” “If you’re only as good as the company you keep then I’mma blame you for what they say about me,” he damningly croons. Synths start to build around the crooner’s melodic vocals, until it becomes an all-out electronic production: “I swear to God I’m moving on!” he angrily spits before the song dips into a heavy, very Diplo-esque sort of noisy “Express Yourself”-like breakdown. Breezy’s been burned — this is clearly not a love song.

At this Sunday’s (August 24) MTV Video Music Awards, Pharrell will be the one male facing off against female pop forces Beyonce, Miley Cyrus, Iggy Azalea and Sia in the Video Of The Year category. And of course we all know those names today, but who remembers that Panic! At The Disco once waltzed away from the VMAs with a Video Of The Year moonman? Or what song Green Day nabbed the award for in 2005? Or what year Britney Spears emerged victorious in the category?

Ahead of the latest staging of MTV’s annual extravaganza, we decided to flash back through the past decade, all the way back to 2004, to refresh our memories on exactly which artists and songs won the big prize on VMAs night. We then compiled snippets of all the winning clips into one two-and-a-half-minute video, which you can watch above. More »

Birdy‘s “Skinny Love” has certainly provided the songstress some extended mileage. Although her Bon Iver cover first surfaced nearly three years ago, the singer-songwriter has only continued to see success from the track, unveiling a brand new video for the tune as recently as January.

Now, Switzerland-based producer Sebastian Carter‘s breathed new life into the track yet again by supplying a gorgeously atmospheric new mix of the production, layering Birdy’s featherlight vocals across warm synths, chilled out beats and snaps. The remix, which is part of a series of newly commissioned official “Skinny Love” remixes, is a moody, endlessly repeat-worthy listen that ought to provide a bit of a mental escape before you party it up for the weekend.

Maroon 5 had a somewhat sizable summer hit with “Maps,” and with that one now falling down the Billboard Hot 100, they’ve unleashed another track off upcoming LP V (out September 2) in the form of “Animals.” The song was co-written by M5 frontman Adam Levine along with frequent collaborators Benny Blanco and Shellback, and it finds Levine crooning over a repetitious guitar riff and hip hop beat, “Baby, I’m preying on you tonight, hunt you down, eat you alive / just like animals.”

So basically, more sexed-up innuendo from Adam & Co. Paw at the lyric video for “Animals” above. More »
