Lorde To Release ‘Hunger Games’ Soundtrack Song “Yellow Flicker Beat” On September 29

The soundtrack for the highly anticipated Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1 is being curated by Lorde, which is both a curious and incredibly promising thing.

And while we’re still entirely in the dark about which acts the “Royals” songstress has enlisted to provide tracks for the forthcoming collection, we now know that her own contribution is coming to us next week.

“Yellow Flicker Beat” will be released on September 29, produced by the prolific Paul Epworth (Adele, Florence + The Machine). The song, which will reportedly be played during the closing credits of the film, is also the first taste of new music from Lorde since the release of Pure Heroine. More »

Kelly Clarkson Sheds Some Light On Her Next Album, Tweets Lyrics And Release Date Information

What the world needs now is new music from Kelly Clarkson. I know the inaugural American Idol winner released Wrapped In Red last year but it’s hard to rock out to “Run Run Rudolph” in September. (I’ve tried). Unfortunately, we’re going to have to hold tight a little bit longer. She jumped on Twitter over the weekend and shared a couple of tidbits about her much-anticipated 7th LP — including the fact that it won’t be out until 2015.

“The high road can be a lonely place but I’d rather talk to my shadow than a mirage,” the new mom mysteriously tweeted on Friday (September 19). Fans got concerned but Kelly set them straight. “Okay haha my last tweet was referring 2 a song that’s going on my next album.” If that’s a lyric, it looks like wedded bliss hasn’t satiated her appetite for angry pop/rock anthems.

She then tweeted a fan this nugget of information: “I’m so proud of my next album! Might have a special guest on the album…. maybe :) Doesn’t come out until early next year.” This is torture. Who is going to appear on Kelly’s next LP? She’s expressed admiration for Beyonce and Selena Gomez previously but my money is another high-profile country duet. She is the crossover queen, after all! Two Demos Dev Hynes Recorded For Britney Spears Have Surfaced Online: Listen

Last summer, Dev Hynes and William Orbit‘s brief Twitter exchange fueled rumors that Hynes was cast as one of the many producers on Britney SpearsBritney Jean (released in November 2013). The speculation ended up being true, but his work for the project was ultimately rejected. A little over a year later, two of the demos that Hynes recorded for the Princess of Pop have surfaced online.

The first one is an airy mid-tempo that’s filled with computerized glitches and Hynes’ whispering “Leave us alone,” which Spears’ breathy coos would have worked wonders on! The second demo is a melodic ballad with a beautiful piano melody at its core.

Sam Smith Sent Lady Gaga Fan Mail, Which Made Her Cry And Tweet About Her Feelings

Sam Smith put his paws up recently by sending Lady Gaga an emotional fan email. Mother Monster was moved to tears by his words and jumped on Twitter to respond. “You’re so special my baby,” she wrote. “Your email made me cry @samsmithworld With the voice of an angel, u need no permission or advice. You’re perfect.” That’s adorable but what on earth did he say?

Well, the chart-conquering crooner cleared the matter up in a new interview. “I wrote her an email basically just saying, ‘I remember being a 17-year-old, queuing up for your concert, dreaming up doing this and being in the music industry’,” Sam told AMP Radio Boston. “The thing I admire most about [her] was the hustle and what she did to get into the industry.”

But he didn’t stop there. “I just ran with it, saying, ‘Thank you so much for inspiring me to do this because the reason why I’m here now is partly because of you.’” The “Stay With Me” hitmaker should strike up a conversation with Cher. She recently went on a Twitter tirade expressing her love for all things Gaga. ARTPOP might have tanked but high-profile Monsters continue to represent. More »

Pink And Dallas Green (You + Me) Debut Powerful Ballad, “Break The Cycle”: Listen

The pop ladies sure are throwing us for a curve ball with their duet projects as of late, no?

After Lady Gaga teamed up with Tony Bennett for their collection of jazz standards, Cheek To Cheek, Pink announced that she too is embarking on a new musical journey, joining Dallas Green for a foray into folk that steers far from her more familiar rowdy behavior.

The duo already dropped their gentle lead track “You And Me” weeks ago, and now, the duo returns with a heartfelt new selection from their forthcoming record, rose ave., out on October 14.

The chilling ballad, a love song dedicated to Pink’s mother, sees the two singers soulfully crooning across dramatic strings and a repetitive guitar melody. “Let me heal the wounds you’ve held onto all these years/Break the cycle, break the chains, ’cause love is louder than all of your pain,” the two declare across the hopeful chorus. Pink has always been excellent at conveying strong emotions in her music (she’s quite underrated, in fact!), and this stripped-down production only allows her words to stand out stronger than ever. In fact, there’s a fairly good chance you’ll even shed a tear or two. More »

Charli XCX’s ‘Sucker’ Album Has New Cover Art, Release Date Pushed Back Two Months

Charli XCX‘s sophomore album won’t be out next month after all. After originally announcing a release date of October 21 for Sucker, the British singer has pushed the LP back two months, to December 16 (and even longer in the UK: January 26) — though she insists it’s nothing to do with any trouble behind the scenes.

‘Boom Clap’ is still getting so much love all over the world, which is crazy, and it just makes sense, so I have proper time to focus on the album launch,” Charli wrote on Facebook today. More »
