Charli XCX's 'Sucker': Album Review
Don't call this a sophomore slump. Pop's new "It" girl delivers with her new LP.

On December 12, Charli XCX gave away her phone number on The Elvis Duran Show. This wasn’t her personal phone, but to what the Sucker star calls her “Angel Phone.” Still, fans were baffled. “liar,” one said.

As a new video (above) shows, though, the winning pop songwriter wasn’t kidding. She hadn’t even left Elvis Duran when she started receiving messages in quick succession. Soon, she started calling some people back — longtime fans, students and their teachers, people insisting that she can text them anytime.

Charli XCX even calls back someone who sent a text saying, “What that mouth do, though?” More »

Readers have spoken. According to 74,000 votes, these are the best albums of 2014.

Kylie Minogue‘s Kylie: Kiss Me Once, the ITV concert special that aired December 23, has now surfaced online.

While the veteran pop star spent more time judging talent on The Voice UK than promoting her new album (and fan favorite of 2014) Kiss Me Once this year, her 31-date European tour this fall allowed the diva to refocus on her music, if only for just a few months. So to see her take center stage at Glasgow’s Hydro Arena, her body draped over a lip-shaped couch one moment, belting classic gems like 2000′s “Spinning Around” the next, feels like making up for lost time. Beyonce’s “7/11″ Remixed By Jack U (Diplo And Skrillex): Listen

Diplo and Skrillex first announced their side project Jack U in 2013, though it wasn’t until this year when the superstar producer-DJs put the moniker to good use. Following summer club-banger “Take U There”, a collaboration with “Hideaway” singer Kiesza, Jack U has released a remix of Beyonce‘s “7/11.”

This revamp follows the song’s official remix package, plus a “Christmas addition” from Beyonce’s original collaborator Detail and French Montana – proof positive that, like the rest of us, producers are spinning all their hands up. (“7/11″ first appeared on last month’s four-disc Platinum Edition of her 2013 self-titled album.) However, Jack U’s high-octane remix is likely the first to cue kung fu film-style sound effects when Third Ward Trill commands to “smack, smack it in the air.” Subtle, it isn’t.

Pharrell Reunites With N.E.R.D. For “Squeeze Me”: Listen

Gwen Stefani & Pharrell Do "Spark The Fire"

N.E.R.D., the memorable side-project by Neptunes‘ producers Pharrell and Chad Hugo, have reunited for “Squeeze Me,” off the forthcoming soundtrack for The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge Out Of Water. And the song ends up being more whimsical and fun than Slash appearing in the film’s debut trailer, before it segued to Guns N’ Roses‘ hard rock classic “Welcome To The Jungle.”

To a bouncy bongo rhythm and playground chants, Pharrell sings slyly from the perspective of, yes, SpongeBob SquarePants: “The best part is the middle of me-eee / I’m your sponge, baby, go on and squeeze.”

“We’re trying not to think too much in a cartoon sense, but more just like a psychedelic, otherworldy type of thing,” producer Chad Hugo recently said to Variety. “If you want to draw a parallel, maybe think of what The Beatles did with ‘Yellow Submarine.’”

Pitbull And Ne-Yo Party Like It’s 1999 In “Time Of Our Lives” Video: Watch

Time Of Their Lives
Pitbull Remixes Taylor Swift's "Blank Space": Listen
Pitbull Remixes Taylor Swift's "Blank Space": Listen
Like the rest of us, Pitbull‘s favorite record right now is this '1989' gem -- so he actually gets introspective.

Pitbull and Ne-Yo party like it’s 1999 in their new “Time of Our Lives” video. Okay, technically it’s New Year’s Eve 1999. Still, to see Pitbull dressed in a Miami Hurricanes Starter jacket, receiving a text on an imitation Sidekick, makes for a delightfully strange throwback.

Dressed as he was before he became Mr. Worldwide, blending his Latin music influences with Southern crunk alongside Lil Jon, Pitbull crashes a house party and makes a spectacle of himself while pocketing cash from a donation jar, singing Ne-Yo’s parts at the top of his lungs and getting up close and personal with, erm, a woman’s ass. The video also shows that, at least in Pitbull’s world, some things just don’t change. Other party-goers get just as crazy as he does, as they shake what they’ve got at his command. Sound familiar?

“Time of Our Lives” appears on Pitbull’s seventh solo album Globalization and made its Hot 100 debut two weeks ago. See the song’s video up top, then catch his recent iHeartRadio Theater LA performances of that track, “Celebrate” and “Fireball” below. More »

Beyonce’s “7/11″ Remixed By French Montana And Detail: Listen

Fresher Than You?

Beyonce released the official remix package to her new single “7/11″ earlier in December. By doing so, though, she has inspired even more producers and DJs to reinterpret the woozy club banger.

The latest remix comes from none other than Detail, who produced the original “7/11″ himself. And this, what he has dubbed the “Detail Christmas Addition,” feels almost like a daydream in comparison. It’s actually airy, with acoustic guitar licks and rapper French Montana warbling from a distance, to back Third Ward Trill’s assertions to “smack it, smack it in the air.” And it feels less like another option for the club — see Swedish DJ RedTop‘s remix for that — than proof that Detail’s got versatility.

This “Detail Christmas Addition” won’t be the last remix of Beyonce’s “7/11″ this year. Instead, that may be Jack U‘s just-announced version — Jack U, of course, being producer-DJs Diplo and Skrillex — due out later today. For now, hear Detail and French Montana’s new take on “7/11″ below. More »

Lady Gaga And Tony Bennett Perform “Winter Wonderland” On ‘Good Morning America’: Watch

Walking In A Winter Wonderland

Lady Gaga Is Working On 'ARTPOP' Follow-Up
She reveals that she's working on new music, but then she says, "I want it to be a surprise."

Lady Gaga and Tony Bennett performed their version of holiday classic “Winter Wonderland” on Christmas Day on Good Morning America — having surprised fans with their rendition earlier in December.

Like with their jazz standards album Cheek to Cheek and the ensuing live performances, Lady Gaga has tried her best to sell the transformation she underwent this year. With a floor-length fur stole draped over one shoulder, she belted every note, flaunting her chops to an audience that was likely grossed out by her meat dress at one time. Meanwhile, Bennett sang with an ease that could only come from performing this way for more than 50 years. More »

(This includes a long kiss with actor boyfriend Wilmer Valderrama.) These scenes, set to the triumphant Demi ballad, make all of her hard work seem worthwhile. More »

2014 In Review — The Year Pop Star Booty Went Mainstream: 18 Sexy Pics

Pop Divas Bared Their Boobs (A Lot) In 2014
Pop Divas Bared Their Boobs (A Lot) In 2014
In many ways, 2014 was the year of the celebrity nude. Here are some of the sexiest pop star snaps.

One hundred years from now, when pop culture historians look back on 2014, they will be astounded (or perhaps just slightly amused) by our fascination with ass. You couldn’t click on YouTube without seeing a bottom-heavy diva shake her butt, or flick through Instagram without being greeted by a boy band’s buns. The obsession even crossed over into the music itself with Nicki Minaj landing a massive hit with “Anaconda” and Jennifer Lopez racking up those video streams with Iggy Azalea-assisted club-banger, “Booty.”

What does it all mean? You could argue that we, as a society, are becoming less tolerant of slut shaming, more accepting of our bodies or simply harder to shock. Hence the more-is-more approach to self-promotion. Whatever the case may be, the class of 2014 certainly left their mark. Rihanna‘s Lui magazine spread is legendary and Kim Kardashian almost broke the internet with her Paper magazine shoot. Meanwhile, Nick Jonas kickstarted his solo career by dropping his pants. See the year in ass up top. More »
