Nova Rockafeller Raps About Being High (A Lot) On ‘PROBLEMCHILD’: Stream/Download Her Killer EP

It’s an interesting time to be a white female rapper. Iggy Azalea kicked down the door with summer smash “Fancy” but became an instant target in the hip-hop community. Canadian-born, Jamaica-raised femcee Nova Rockafella should face a much less hostile reaction. For starters, she’s been quietly building a following in Los Angeles for years and presents an edgier fusion of rap and EDM on her new EP.

A stop-gap measure to keep fans satisfied until her debut LP drops in early 2015, PROBLEMCHILD is a nice introduction to Nova’s snarky rhymes and sick beats. There’s a lot to love here including the femcee’s relatable DJ Nobody-produced stoner jam “Whole Bag”, fake British accent-showcasing “Lunch Special” and bad bitch anthem “Batman”. Nick Jonas Shows Off His Gym Membership-Raising Six-Pack On The Cover Of ‘Flaunt’ Magazine

Remember when Nick Jonas almost broke the internet by posting a shirtless pic on Instagram? I know, it was a magical moment. Well, the 22-year-old is at it again — brazenly showing off his killer six-pack and snail trail on the cover Flaunt magazine. Expect gym memberships to skyrocket when this hits newsstands/the interwebs next month!

The youngest Jonas brother is making the transition from teen idol to adult pop star look easy. After signaling his new sound with slick buzz track “Chains”, Nick dropped ’80s-influenced urban-pop anthem “Jealous” and immediately found love at radio and on iTunes. (The song is now top 30 — and climbing — on the download chart). His sexy magazine shoot can only help his cause. Check it out after the jump. More »

SHEON’s “Second Base” Video Has Something To Offend Everyone: Watch Her Sexy Church Romp

Her ARTPOP Could Mean Anything

I’ve seen a lot of demented music videos over the years but SHEON raises the bar by masturbating with a bible outside a church in her unforgettable “Second Base” visual. It’s a shame the song is so terrible because the Yugoslavia-born, Minnesota-raised diva delivers comedy gold with controversial antics that also include stripping in a confessional booth.

“Once I was old enough to make a decision for myself regarding my own spirituality, I realized how much I had been brain-washed by the church,” explains SHEON. “To me, the church is not about love, forgiveness, and redemption, but about control and fear.” Fair enough. But how does a cheesy Euro-dance anthem about making it to second base relate to those very serious issues? Watch up top if you desperately need a laugh. More »

Tinashe’s ‘Aquarius’: Stream The Full Album

Tinashe‘s much-anticipated Aquarius LP is now streaming a week ahead of its official October 7 release date. So, does it live up to the hype? If you like sexy, languid R&B with on-point production and vintage Janet Jackson-esque interludes, then the answer is a resounding yes. The talented 21-year-old carves out her own nice with a sound as fresh as it is comfortingly familiar.

So what are the highlights? Schoolboy Q-featuring stoner anthem “2 On” is still the ultimate ratchet party jam, while new A$AP Rocky-assisted single “Pretend” shows a softer, prettier side. When you throw sexy bedroom romp “Feels Like Vegas” into the mix along with previously unheard gems “Far Side Of The Moon”, “Bated Breath” and “Cold Sweat”, it’s hard to deny that Tinashe has well and truly delivered the goods. Clean Bandit & Jess Glynne’s “Real Love”: Listen To Their Brand New Collaboration

Clean Bandit and Jess Glynne have come back together for another absolute stunner of a pop-house track, following the global success of “Rather Be.” We were already fans of UK quartet Clean Bandit’s debut LP New Eyes, but new song “Real Love” instantly blows most of the tracks on the album out of the water.

So far “Real Love” is slated only for a European single release, as part of an apparent upcoming repackaged edition of New Eyes. For now, us Yanks will just have to enjoy it online.

There’s Now A Solo Version Of Jessie J’s “Bang Bang”: Listen To The Hit Without Nicki Minaj Or Ariana Grande

Jessie J‘s career had just about flatlined until she hooked up with Ariana Grande and Nicki Minaj on “Bang Bang”. The track is a monster hit — it reached a new peak of number three on the Billboard Hot 100 this week — and has everyone excited for the Brit’s third LP Sweet Talker. So why is she systematically editing out her collaborators?

The 26-year-old dropped a rap-free edit of the smash a couple of weeks ago — bye, Nicki! — and today (September 30) a solo version arrived online. It’s always fascinating to hear different versions of a good song and Jessie easily carries “Bang Bang” on her own. The verses sound a little clumsy but her vocal runs are on point. As usual. Check it out for yourself after the jump. More »

Nicki Minaj Shows Off Her Boobs (Yet Again) On Instagram: See Her Lovely, NSFW Pair Of Pics

SUPER IMPORTANT NEWS: The other night Nicki Minaj posted two photos on Instagram where she was supposedly aiming at showing her bobbed wig and makeup to her followers. Of course, the real focus was on Nicki’s ample bosom, which was on full display thanks to the black, barely-there bra she was wearing. Because after all, this is what pop stars do in 2014.

Aretha Franklin’s ‘Letterman’ Performance Has Gone Viral For The Wrong Reasons: Watch Her Sing “Rolling In The Deep”

Show A Little Respect

Aretha Franklin Sings The Great Diva Classics (due October 21) is a Clive Davis-curated covers album featuring tracks made famous by big-lunged female vocalists like Whitney Houston, Barbra Streisand and Adele. Sounds like a great fit for the Queen of Soul, right? Well, last night’s (September 29) performance on the Late Show With David Letterman might change your mind.

The 72-year-old bravely mashed Adele‘s “Rolling In The Deep” with “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough” but it wasn’t exactly a triumph. In fact, the video immediately went viral — generating nasty comments about Aretha’s voice and appearance. Trolls even came for Whitney’s mother Cissy Houston, who sang backing vocals (out of time with the rest of the choir). This isn’t the R&B legend’s finest moment but her lower register was on fire. The high notes, however, are best left unmentioned. Watch up top. More »

Pink And Dallas Green (You + Me) Debut Gritty New Track “Capsized”: Listen To The Third Taste Of ‘Rose Ave.’

Nice Hats.

It took a minute to get my head around Pink‘s new side-project You + Me (a collaboration with folk singer City And Colour A.K.A. Dallas Green) but the music has been uniformly excellent and latest offering “Capsized” promises even better things from debut LP rose ave. (due October 14). It’s definitely the most quintessentially Alecia Moore track thus far.

For starters, “Capsized” veers a little closer to rock than “You And Me” or emotional ballad “Break The Cycle”. The brooding track starts with Dallas and Pink trading lyrics about a doomed relationship over strummed guitar before ramping things up for the bluesy chorus. “We were two ships in the night, passing by in the pale moonlight and capsized,” they chant. Watch the suitably moody lyric video up top. More »

Gorgon City And Jennifer Hudson’s “Go All Night”: Listen To The ‘Sirens” Track, Co-Written By Kiesza

During our recent interview with Gorgon City, members Matt Robson-Scott and Kye Gibbon discussed writing Sirens track “Go All Night” with “Hideaway” songbird Kiesza, then ultimately getting Jennifer Hudson to lend her vocals to the song.

“That track, we kind of didn’t really think it was gonna get on the album, because Jennifer Hudson delivered her vocals so late — it was two days before the album was meant to go to master,” Matt explained. “We were like, we haven’t got the vocal. We’re gonna have to put something different on the album. Then we just got an email in the inbox that’s like ‘J-Hud vocal’. We were like, ‘It’s here — got a day to finish it. Quick!’”

The result is a straight-up house track that finds Hudson letting her roof-blowing voice rip. If you ever wondered what J-Hud would sound like on an all-out dancefloor stomper, satiate your curiosity below! More »
