Pink And Dallas Green (You + Me) Debut Powerful Ballad, “Break The Cycle”: Listen

The pop ladies sure are throwing us for a curve ball with their duet projects as of late, no?

After Lady Gaga teamed up with Tony Bennett for their collection of jazz standards, Cheek To Cheek, Pink announced that she too is embarking on a new musical journey, joining Dallas Green for a foray into folk that steers far from her more familiar rowdy behavior.

The duo already dropped their gentle lead track “You And Me” weeks ago, and now, the duo returns with a heartfelt new selection from their forthcoming record, rose ave., out on October 14.

The chilling ballad, a love song dedicated to Pink’s mother, sees the two singers soulfully crooning across dramatic strings and a repetitive guitar melody. “Let me heal the wounds you’ve held onto all these years/Break the cycle, break the chains, ’cause love is louder than all of your pain,” the two declare across the hopeful chorus. Pink has always been excellent at conveying strong emotions in her music (she’s quite underrated, in fact!), and this stripped-down production only allows her words to stand out stronger than ever. In fact, there’s a fairly good chance you’ll even shed a tear or two. More »

Fergie’s “L.A. Love (La La)”: See The Single Artwork

It’s official: Fergie herself confirmed that her comeback single, “L.A. Love (La La),” is arriving very soon. (September 29!)

After the song made a cameo on the runway during a fashion show in Milan late last week (in snippet form, anyway), “L.A. Love” was just given some gang sign-licious single artwork this morning (see above).

The visual is intriguing, featuring a pair of blinged-out hands delivering a “LA” gang sign in front of a leafy heart filled with eyes (#Illuminati, obviously). One of the hands also bears a tattoo with the phrase “Smile Now, Cry Later,” which some fans are speculating might also be the title of her forthcoming Dutchess follow-up. But wait — I thought big girls don’t cry?

Fergie also put out the call for fans to contribute their own L.A. gang signs on Instagram for a lyric video — so go ahead and flash yours in the direction of Fergie Ferg.

Just one week to go until the song makes its debut. Are you excited for the return of Fergie? Sound off in the comments below.

Kiesza Teams Up With Joey Bada$$ For “Bad Thing”: Listen To The ‘Sound Of A Woman’ Track

Kiesza trades in her well-loved deep house synths for a gritty bass with her latest tune, “Bad Thing.” After songs like “Hideaway” and “No Enemiez,” the Canadian singer-songwriter slows things down a bit and lets her vocals shine on top of the track’s weighty drum rhythms. What gives the song an extra boost of swagger is the feature from underground rapper Joey Bada$$. The 19-year-old Brooklynite compliments the song perfectly, thanks to his chilled, laid-back flow.

“Bad Thing” is shaping up to be one of the standout tracks from the singer’s debut album Sound Of A Woman, set for an October 21 release. Check it out below and if you like what you hear, pre-order Kiesza’s album on iTunes now and you can download the song for free. More »

Jessie J Debuts Fiery New Single, “Burnin’ Up”: Listen

Jessie J is ready to heat things up again.

After kicking off her Sweet Talker campaign with a “Bang Bang” alongside Ariana Grande and Nicki Minaj the powerhouse UK vocalist’s long-awaited follow up single “Burnin’ Up” has arrived — and it’s hot! Well, duh.

“I’m burnin’ up! Come put me out, come and put me out,” the songstress declares over and over agin above the song’s snappy, stomping Max Martin-produced beats.

Like “Bang Bang,” it’s all about those diva-sized pipes (and some major heavy breathing!), as Jessie struts through the fire and loses her mind. 2 Chainz comes in later for his own spitfire contribution. (“Burn down for what? Turn up!” is a stroke of genius, to be sure.) The song’s a catchy burst of energy for sure, and who knows? Perhaps even American radio will be set ablaze. More »
