Solange is readying her return after wowing the Coachella crowd earlier this month (with some help from her sister Beyonce). The alt-R&B singer and Saint Records founder did a Twitter Q&A with fans yesterday (April 24), during which she revealed she has a True follow-up on the horizon.

When asked when fans can expect to hear new material, she replied, “Early fall, have written 25 joints…recording and narrowing, very happy!” As for what it will sound like, Solange was vague but mentioned, “It’s the album I may have been afraid to make, but had no choice but to make.”

A mere week ago, London drum and bass duo Sigma were sitting on top of the UK chart with “Nobody To Love,” their retro-sounding re-working of Kanye West‘s “Bound 2.″ They were replaced at #1 this past Sunday by Kiesza‘s own ’90s house send-up “Hideaway.” But to show that there are no hard feelings, Sigma have now remixed “Hideaway” and turned it into a slow-burning, atmospheric piece that eventually erupts into a drum-and-bass-fueled frenzy. (Added bonus: there are also slight flourishes of Massive Attack‘s classic “Unfinished Sympathy” throughout.)

Nicki Minaj Previews New Song By Twerking To It: Watch

Minaj says she's focusing on hip-hop for Pink Print. Read More »

Nicki Minaj previewed what appears to be a new song via Instagram late Wednesday night (April 23), posting two short videos of her twerking in pink pants to a slow jam featuring her chanting vocals. And while Minaj recently said “hell no” to the prospect of her forthcoming album The Pink Print containing a shameless pop cut like “Super Bass,” this new track sounds awfully Top 40-friendly.

(Also, it looks like she takes a daily vitamin! Gotta stay in peak condition when you’re posting all those sexy selfies.)

Meanwhile, Minaj continues to have her cake and eat it, too, which she’s better at than just about any star out there trying to play both sides (Miley included). She just told MTV that she is tired of being called a “female rapper.” “I do not see myself as a female rapper anymore, I’m sorry. I see myself as a rapper.” Preach.

"Hello Kitty" will make your eyes, ears & soul bleed. Read More »

Two days ago, Avril Lavigne‘s “Hello Kitty” video premiered on the singer’s website and, eventually, made its way to YouTube. Upon watching, we here at Idolator declared it to be the worst thing you’d watch all week. Hours later, other outlets such as Billboard, GQ, USA Today and E! Online followed suit, all equally appalled at the disastrous clip.

But while many online entities have been citing the seemingly racist overtones of the clip — the song and video reference Japanese pop and kawaii culture, while the visual also employs Japanese dancers, hence Avril receiving a similar backlash to the one Sky Ferreira faced last week over her “I Blame Myself” clipwe were offended because the song just flat-out sucks and the video comes off, to us, as age-inappropriate.

Regardless, head below to see Avril’s response to the “Hello Kitty” furor, via the marvelous medium of Twitter. More »

Ariana Grande and Iggy Azalea are teaming up on “Problem,” which is shaping up to be a massive kiss-off anthem. Grande already posted a preview in which she belts out some relationship bitterness, and now she has posted a few seconds of Iggy’s sneering verse, with the Aussie MC rapping, “In no time, I’ll be forgettin’ all about you.”

And just for good measure, Republic Records’ Charlie Walk also posted a clip of the song, with an enthused listener in the studio holding up a sign “This is a hit.”

The future hit drops April 27. Hear both new snippets below via Instavid. More »

Jason Spills The Beans

Jason Derulo is currently enjoying one of the biggest hits of his career with Wallpaper-produced bedroom anthem “Talk Dirty”. The explicit earworm boasts the catchiest hook of 2014, a small army of celebrity fans and major staying power on the charts. It’s still lodged at number three on the Billboard Hot 100 and could grind its way even higher up the countdown.

The 24-year-old recently dropped by the Idolator studio to chat about his temperature-raising hit and similarly titled new album. Jason explained his new sexually-charged image and opened up about his next single — an equally catchy collaboration with Snoop Dogg called “Wiggle”. He also hints at an upcoming US tour, which is great news for thirsty fans. Watch up top. More »
