The goddamn mic has been dropped on the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge videos, and Donatella Versace had the final word. For her stunning clip, the Grand Drag Queen Of Fashion (no, no Karl Lagerfeld — have a seat, bitch) sat her hot ass in front of a camera and muttered something or other in Donatella-ese while two ridiculously ripped model dudes lorded over her with buckets that look like they cost the Average Joe’s annual salary a piece.

Lady Versace screwed up ALS by calling it “ASL,” but when she went to correct herself, it was too late — Himbo 1 and Himbo 2 poured their buckets on Donatella’s iconic wig, causing her to let out the same blood-curdling shriek we did when we found out will.i.am was exec-producing Britney‘s last album. Grimes Hits The Desert For Post-Apocalyptic “Go” Video: Watch

Grimes has always marched to the beat of her own drum and that has never been more apparent than in Canadian diva’s mind-bendingly weird “Go” video. The 26-year-old hits the desert in the post-apocalyptic romp (which she also directed with her brother) and spends a lot of time waving a large sword around. She also poses in front of long sheets of fabric.

That description doesn’t really do it justice. The striking desert scenes are juxtaposed with nightclub action, which makes the video feel like Mad Max: The Musical. A collaboration with LA-based electro-wizz Blood Diamonds, “Go” was apparently written for Rihanna‘s new album. I can understand why RiRi rejected it — the song is too wild for her rigid brand of urban-pop — but it’s her loss. Watch up top. More »

Betty Who Performs “Somebody Loves You” on ‘Today Show’: Watch

Today Loves Who
Betty Who's Album
The singer debut LP release date & tracklist. Read More »

It’s been a big week for Miss Betty Who, that’s for sure.

After the announcement of her debut LP Take Me When You Go, the singer-songstress just appeared on the Today Show stage this morning to kick off the day with the Movement EP song that started it all: “Somebody Loves You.”

After some small talk about her shoes, hair and the origin of her name (fun fact: it was originally the title of a song she wrote!), Miss Who launched into a spirited performance performance of her synth-y jam, bouncing around and crooning to a fan-filled studio audience. She’s got a lot to be happy about as of late: She’s heading out on tour with Katy Perry down under for the Prismatic World Tour in November.

Check out Betty performing up top, and let us know if you’re excited for her debut LP in the comments below. More »

Popping Up: Shift K3Y

Our interview with the "Rather Be" hit-makers. Read More »

Popping Up is our recurring look at new artists making noise on the music landscape. Because, hey — Madonna and Britney were once unknown, too.

House-leaning dance-pop acts like Rudimental, Gorgon City and Jess Glynne are proving that North London is a currently one of the hottest hotbeds of new music right now, and throwing his hat into the arena is 21-year old Lewis Jankel. Recording as Shift K3Y, he landed a Top 5 hit in his home country of the UK earlier this year with his soulful garage-pop single “Touch.” (It’s now been released in the States — grab the song here.) And, yes, that’s Lewis, not a separate, featured vocalist, doing the singing on the track — something that makes him unique among many of his contemporaries.

We had lunch in the Big Apple with this young new pop force earlier this month, and he proved to be just as candid and sharp as he is savvy about music-making. Head below to find out more about Shift K3Y. More »

Labrinth’s “Let It Be” Video: Watch The Singer-Songwriter Create His Upcoming Album

Gearing up for the release of his highly anticipated sophomore album, Labrinth — real name Timothy McKenzie — recently dropped his soulful number “Let It Be.” While it might not be a party-starter like his Tinie Tempah-assisted club banger “Earthquake,” the new single not only lets his sultry pipes shine through, but also shows a real maturation for the 25-year-old English crooner.

Now “Let It Be” has a video, and it’s a pretty dizzying one at that. Filmed in a single shot, the clip seemingly follows McKenzie’s process of making his second disc, from fighting with label execs and recording tunes in the studio to just jamming with his friends. What’s more, it all takes place in a rather eerie warehouse space.

The visual might also reflect his trepidation with this still-untitled new record as he further ventures away from writing purely pop jams. More »
