One of the highlights of last night’s (August 26) final episode ever of Chelsea Lately — aside from seeing host Chelsea Handler nude in the shower with Ellen DeGeneres, of course — was watching Miley Cyrus cover Roy Orbison‘s aptly-titled classic “It’s Over.” The recent MTV VMAs Video Of The Year winner was every bit the class act in her red pants and white fringe jacket, doing Orbison justice by belting out the Top 10 hit from 1964 with her stunning vocal range on full display. Now this is the Miley we all love.
Later, in the show’s final minutes, Cyrus joined Gwen Stefani, Fergie, Dave Grohl, Alanis Morissette, Sammy Hagar, LeAnn Rimes, Avril Lavigne and a slew of others on stage for a riff on “We Are The World” titled “Goodbye To E!”, which sent Handler’s show off into the late night for one last time. For seven years, Chelsea Handler‘s crass, ballsy humor brought an air of uniqueness to late night TV — she was, after all, a female in an otherwise male-dominated arena. Alas, her series, Chelsea Lately, came to an end last night (August 27) in a star-filled night that saw Ellen DeGeneres confronting a nude Handler in the shower, the trio of Sandra Bullock, Jennifer Aniston and Mary McCormack staging an intervention of sorts with the hostess, Chelsea’s ex 50 Cent performing with G-Unit and Miley Cyrus covering Roy Orbison‘s “It’s Over.”
For the big finale, multiple past guests of the show and friends of Handler’s — including Gwen Stefani, Fergie, Dave Grohl, Alanis Morissette, Sammy Hagar, LeAnn Rimes and Avril Lavigne — joined her in riffing on “We Are The World” with the farewell song “Goodbye To E!” More »

Given Usher‘s status as perhaps the most consistent artist in R&B, it’s surprising how underwhelming the first two cuts from his eighth studio album have been. “Good Kisser” was an unusually generic bedroom anthem and “She Came To Give It To You” sounds like a reject from Justin Timberlake‘s The 20/20 Experience. Even a cameo from Nicki Minaj can’t save it.
The video isn’t particularly inspiring either. The 35-year-old is one of the best dancers in the business but his moves are clouded by murky lighting and choppy editing. Then there’s Nicki no-show. Sure, she performs her verse in a room surrounded by televisions but it’s kind of anti-climactic that they never share a scene together. Watch up top. More »
The dust has finally settled on the 2014 MTV Video Music Awards but, chances are, you’re still watching the epic performances on repeat. Well, here’s one you might have missed. While Beyonce was schooling lessors in the art of performance with her visual album-spanning medley, Laverne Cox was putting on a show of her own — from the audience!
The Orange Is The New Black actress clearly caught the holy ghost during “Blow” and launched to her feet. The 30-year-old history-maker is clearly a paid-up member of The Hive because she knew all the moves. Making the moment even more magical is the sour look on Kim Kardashian‘s face. (The reality star was seated in the row behind). Watch Laverne get her entire life after the jump. More »
News that Iggy Azalea replaced Pitbull on the new edit of Jennifer Lopez‘s “Booty” caught most people by surprise this morning (August 26) but the bottom-heavy divas gave away multiple (and fairly obvious) clues on a recent episode of MTV’s House Of Style reboot. In fact, they openly talked about their collaboration and their world-famous derrieres.
After playing a snippet of the Diplo-produced club-banger, J.Lo says: “I’m super excited for it. It’s going to be the next single.” But then Jenny gives the whole thing away. “You did something on it and obviously because we have that in common,” she says in reference to their beautiful butts. “I think we have high fashion booty,” chimes in Iggy.
