In response to the ongoing chaos in Ferguson, Missouri, Georgia rapper T.I. has teamed up with singer-songwriter Skylar Grey on a hard-hitting new number called “New National Anthem.”
Complete with a menacing beat and a powerhouse hook from the “I Need A Doctor” songstress, T.I. addresses the topics of racism, gun culture, and, well, the actual state of the union. The “No Mediocre” hip-hop kingpin has been very vocal on the subject as of late, posting a personal letter about the death of Michael Brown via Instagram on August 19.
“I know radio prolly ain’t gonna play this,” T.I states in the beginning of the song. “But chopper going off in the hood man like Afghanistan or the Gaza strip somewhere, man/Yeah, we hear it so much. we probably numb to it by now. After all, it’s the American way, right?

The electronic dance community is meant to be a harmonious world, but every now and then, an occasional moment of nasty ripples through the DJ scene.
The trouble began last night, when pop princess-DJ-actress-heiress-entrepreneur extraordinaire Paris Hilton excitedly tweeted about her ongoing “Foam & Diamonds” Amnesia residency in Ibiza. “Hey @AmnesiaIbiza! Can’t wait to party with you all again tonight at my #FoamAndDiamonds party! #Ibiza See you there!” she wrote.
Sensing an opportunity to shade, Canadian beatmaker Deadmau5 — a DJ known to get into an Internet scuffle or ten — unexpectedly came in out of nowhere with a cutting tweet: “.@ParisHilton @Amnesia_Ibiza whatever, just clean up your stupid fuckin mess before I get there next week.” Whoa. Shots fired! More »
What happens when dance pioneer Benny Benassi and System Of A Down frontman Serj Tankian get together on the same song? Electronic poetry, that’s what.
The idea of “Shooting Helicopters” — the highly anticipated collaboration between the two, out next Tuesday on Ultra Music — began well over a year ago, although Benny wasn’t sure whether or not Serj would be receptive to the idea of journeying into the electronic scene.
But after an initial meeting in LA last year, the two hit it off immediately, only to spend about six months (!) working on the song together, which you can now hear below. More »

I don’t think anyone knows what’s going on with Beyonce‘s pioneering visual album at the moment. “Pretty Hurts” came and went without as much as a television performance (I’m still mad!) and then she randomly dropped that messy “***Flawless” remix with Nicki Minaj in the middle of night before going back to dusting her Grammys.
“***Flawless” is scheduled to impact rhythmic radio this week and Queen Bey will perform at the upcoming MTV Video Music Awards, so I guess we’ll know more then. In the meantime, check out The Thin Red Men remix of “Pretty Hurts”. It’s a little on the camp side but that works well with the song’s divalicious lyrics. Listen after the jump. More »
