Sky Ferreira Covers Hole’s “Asking For It” Live: Watch

The best songs from 20 years ago + interviews with Ace Of Base, TLC & more.

Clearly, Sky Ferreira read and absorbed Idolator’s roundup of The 50 Best Songs Of 1994 we published yesterday, because when she hit the stage at Los Angeles’ Belasco Theater in the evening, she and boyfriend Zachary Cole Smith treated lucky concert-goers to a rousing and properly moody cover of Hole‘s “Asking For It.” The song first appeared on Courtney Love & Co.’s seminal 1994 album Live Through This, along with other classic tracks like “Doll Parts” and “Miss World.”

Here on stage, Sky appears decked out in a black leather jacket, black skirt and black stockings. As for her boyfriend, well — with the lighting effects low, you could almost swear it looks like the ghost of Kurt Cobain hovering in the shadows.

Jimmy questions Zayn's engagement to Perri Edwards.

If One Direction‘s Today Show, Jimmy Kimmel Live and Ellen appearances this week in support of their just-released album Four — plus their appearance on Band Aid 30‘s “Do They Know It’s Christmas” —  isn’t enough of a boy band fix for you, then you might be happy to know the guys decided, hey, why not just chuck out our new music video, to boot?

“Night Changes” is the second single off Four, and it’s the song that — gasp — finds the fivesome acknowledging, “We’re only getting older, baby.” In the accompanying video, we see Liam, Zayn, Niall, Harry and Louis on individual romantic dates, and all seems to be going well until Zayn gets a pitcher of water and a plate of pasta dumped on his head. Some other stuff happens, too, but basically: Zayn. More »

The two powerhouse singers performed for 'Concert For Valor.'

Jessie J has been just about everywhere while promoting her latest studio album in the States, from covering Sia‘s “Titanium” with Jennifer Hudson at the Concert For Valor to performing in NYC at the Musician’s On Call gala earlier this week. And now, she’s made her way her over to Jimmy Kimmel Live (ahead of her American Music Awards performance with Ariana Grande and Nicki Minaj!) to perform two of her Sweet Talker cuts.

Dressed in thigh high boots (a fashion cue from her new pal, Ari?) and a chic black and white striped top, the powerhouse vocalist tore through both “Burnin Up” and “Masterpiece” onstage, supplying her usual combination of impressive pipes and undeniable on-stage charisma. The girl is a natural, that’s for sure! And, as a bit of a surprise for the audience, 2 Chainz arrives on stage during the tail-end of “Burnin’ Up” to supply his rapid-fire verse. In Celebration Of Gwen Stefani: 12 Of The Best Songs From Our Favorite Hollaback Girl

The Ska Princess
10 Pop Blondes Who Need To Make A Comeback
10 Pop Blondes Who Need To Make A Comeback
These ladies definitely need to make a musical return!

Gwen Stefani has always been the ultra-cool dark horse of mainstream female musicians, ever since her debut as the lead singer of No Doubt back in 1986. Her belly-baring, bindi-wearing, badass persona set her apart from all of the Britneys and Christinas of the world. Back in 2004, she made that distinction very clear when she traded in the ska punk sounds of her band for a quirkier, synth-driven influence.

That year Stefani released her debut album Love.Angel.Music.Baby, a record that set a precedent for what modern pop music should sound like. Her third project coming soon with “Baby Don’t Lie” as the lead single, so we hope this comeback makes an impression that shakes up the industry as much as her first album did a decade ago.

Today (November 21), we are celebrating the 10th anniversary of the L.A.M.B. LP by taking a look back on some of the singer’s best musical moments. Read on after the jump to see Gwen Stefani’s 12 best songs, from Tragic Kingdom to Sweet Escape — and everything in between! More »

Jessica Sanchez Debuts New Single “This Love”: Listen

It’s been over a year now since American Idol alum Jessica Sanchez dropped her debut LP Me, You And The Music, but it seems the powerhouse vocalist is beginning to prep her follow-up record.

Jessica’s feeling all sorts of drunk in love with her brand new single, using similes galore to prove that their relationship is surely a classic match made in heaven: “We’re like Whitney and the bodyguard/Just like ATMs and credit cards/I was made for loving you, boy!” she happily declares above the organ-tinged, tripping R&B-pop beat. As always, her voice shines on the swoon-filled tune, proving that she’s still got plenty to offer as a pop star.

The song’s a cute lil’ tune and, with any luck, only just an early taste of what’s to come from the underrated singer. Check out “This Love” after the jump, and let us know your thoughts in the comments below. More »

Fifth Harmony Tease Meghan Trainor Duet, “Big” Surprise Collaboration Coming On Debut Album ‘Reflection’

5H Cover "All I Want For Christmas Is You"
Fifth Harmony and Meghan Trainor are here now to put you in the holiday spirit!

Fifth Harmony have big plans in store for their long-awaited, oft-delayed debut Reflection, which was recently pushed back to January. As any good Harmonizer would know, the girls’ latest single, “Sledgehammer,” was written by “All About That Bass” songstress, Meghan Trainor. And, in a new interview with Entertainment Tonight, 5H revealed that the song probably isn’t the only time their labelmate will appear on the record.

The girls said they’ve actually worked with Meghan “a couple times” on the album and, when asked if that means there’s a duet on the LP, they giggled: “Maybe! Maybe not!” they teased. When asked about any other possibly-maybe collaborations, the girls could only yell with excitement. “There’s a big one coming,” Ally teased. Any guesses? Watch the interview after the jump. More »

One Direction’s Zayn Malik Looks Grumpy After Jimmy Kimmel Questions His Engagement To Perrie Edwards: Watch

One Direction Zayn Malik Jimmy Kimmel Live Four 2014
Jimmy Gets On Zayn's Bad Side

In the midst of One Direction‘s North American promo onslaught behind new album Four (which, by the way, is expected to sell over 400,000 copies by week’s end — no big deal), the boy band stopped by Jimmy Kimmel Live in Los Angeles yesterday for a chat. Jimmy threw a barrage of silly questions the lads’ way — Would you ever marry a girl who wet the bed every night? What’s the strangest gift a fan has ever given you? Who is most likely to let a woman split the band apart? — but things took an awkward turn when the host brought up Zayn Malik‘s engagement to Little Mix member Perrie Edwards.

“Do you guys think it’s a good idea that Zayn is getting married?” Kimmel asked the other 1D members. He then began to rib Malik by saying, “Zayn, you obviously think it’s a good idea… But I’m gonna tell you right now, it is not a good idea. And we’ll have a talk about this, but, I mean, I hope it goes well. I hope I’m wrong.” More »
