Dawn Richard has bounced back from the smoldering disaster that was Danity Kane‘s comeback with her dignity and career intact. (Which is more than Aubrey O’Day and Shannon Bex can say). Calvin Harris dropped a surprise video for R3hab collaboration “Burnin’” this afternoon (October 29) to new LP Motion (due November 4). The Scottish DJ has largely focussed on the album’s star-filled features such as the Ellie Goulding-assisted “Outside” and Gwen Stefani-voiced “Together”, so it’s nice to see one of the instrumental tracks getting some attention.
The visual was filmed at this year’s EDC Las Vegas, which gives it a surprisingly raw quality. You almost feel like you’re in the middle of all those turnt revelers, watching Calvin and his Dutch pal work their magic behind the decks. The video is simple enough but it’s material like this that will keeps clubs/festivals hopping for the next few months, rather than the pop-friendly anthems. Watch up top. More »

She looks get to repeat that success with uplifting anthem “Afterlife”.

The pop game is an infinitely better place with the singer/songwriter in it. Watch up top. More »
Charli XCX is one of the break-out stars of 2014 thanks to her feature on Iggy Azalea‘s chart-topping smash “Fancy” and her hit contribution to The Fault In Our Stars soundtrack. Another key to the Brit’s success is her effortlessly cool persona. Who else could serve up a bubbly pop anthem like “Boom Clap” and still keep fans of the gritty True Romance era happy?
The 22-year-old’s fucks-free attitude and quirky style also makes her Instagram account completely adorable. While not as mind-bending as Miley Cyrus‘ or as raunchy as Rita Ora‘s, Charli’s photo game is always on-point. Whether she’s sipping a milkshake or hamming it up with a friendly pooch. Peruse the “London Queen” diva’s best pics above. More »
Sorry, Iggy, you just weren’t fancy enough. And Taylor, you left things shaken, but not really stirred. By the way, Katy, you can ride your dark horse straight outta Dodge.
It turns out Meghan Trainor is shaping up to be the Queen Of the Billboard Hot 100 in 2014, as her debut single “All About That Bass” racks up an eighth week at #1 on the chart — the longest reign for a female artist in 2014.
