Nicki Minaj hasn’t exactly blown the competition away with “Pills N Potions” but she’s determined to drum up interest in The Pink Print — even if it means wearing a piece of dental floss between her ass cheeks on the cover of new single “Anaconda”. The eye-popping artwork was an instant hit with fans and will provide Twitter with fodder for days to come.

The 31-year-old joined in the social media fun, sharing the best banner Google never used on Instagram. There were a plethora of “me when I saw Nicki’s new cover” tweets and a bunch of culturally insensitive clean versions. My favorite post features Drake posing seductively under the title “Anacondrake”. Mess! See the full Twitter aftermath after the jump. More »

For those of you hoping to hear a “Like A Prayer” moment on Madonna‘s upcoming MDNA follow-up, you’re in luck: She’s got a choir.

Earlier this afternoon, the ever enthusiastic, Instagram-loving Queen Of Pop posted a brief clip of the troupe performing together. “London Community Gospel Choir make my new music sound triller! #livingforlove,” Madonna Instagrammed/hashtagged. Yes, M — that choir sure does sound trill! (And for diehard fans, there’s even more reason to get excited: It’s the same choir behind “Nothing Fails” on American Life.)

Though it’s but a mere few seconds, the teaser is already giving us the same shivers as that holy opening of her iconic 1989 release. And if you listen really closely, you can even hear the slightest bit of M herself singing in the final second.

Listen to the London Community Gospel Choir croon after the jump and, while you’re at it, get down on your knees and listen to timeless tune, “Like A Prayer.” More »

Iggy Azalea might have the haters working overtime but she continues to win. The rap diva, who recently spent eight weeks at number one on the Billboard Hot 100 with “Fancy”, has been selected to host a reboot of MTV’s ’90s fashion show House Of Style. The eight-episode season begins August 4 on MTV.com and wraps up at the MTV Video Music Awards.

So what can you expect from the femcee’s hosting debut? Iggy promises to show us the best vintage stores in Los Angeles, will visit the set of a Rita Ora music video (is this some sneaky “Black Widow” promo?) and introduce us to designer Jeremy Scott. Further, she will commentate at the VMAs — sharing her opinions on red carpet fashions and performances. More »

Lana Del Rey Further Explains That Iconic “My Pussy Tastes Like Pepsi-Cola” Lyric

The opening line of Lana Del Rey‘s 2012 anthem “Cola” still raises eyebrows today. “My pussy tastes like Pepsi-Cola,” she croons in her trademark Valium-addled drawl over elegant strings on the brooding Paradise cut. As far as LDR lyrics go, the meaning is fairly self-evident but the 29-year-old (another revelation — she’s a year older than we thought!) has been questioned about it at length. Because, you know, journalism.

In an interview with JJJ, Lana said “Cola” was inspired by then boyfriend Barrie-James O’Neill. “That’s just what he says!” was her simple explanation. Well, the perennially glum diva recently spoke with Rolling Stone and they dug a little deeper. ”My Dad thought ‘Cola’ was funny,” she reveals. “My mom didn’t think it was that funny.”

So what inspired the legendary lyric? ”[Barrie-James] was talking about American girls, his vision of American girls was that all their pussies tasted like Pepsi-Cola, and that they were such a dream,” the Ultraviolence songstress confides. “I thought that was the funniest fucking thing I’d ever heard.” So there you have it. Mystery solved. More »

Happy Throwback Thursday (#TBT), everyone! As we take this time to reminisce about the glimmering pop days of yore, take a moment to bliss out to Years and Years‘ cover of Blu Cantrell and Sean Paul’s infectious 2003 collabo, “Breathe.”

Hailing from London, this R&B-pop trio completely transformed the track, as frontman Olly Alexander’s soulful vocals gently float over the slightly eerie bass-laden melody, giving this song a new, more poignant dimension. Not to mention, they also have some great tracks of their own: From R&B electronic-infused jams like “Take Shelter”  to synth-y bops like “Real”, it seems as though these guys are slowly becoming one of the most exciting acts to watch this year.

Catch Years and Years on tour with Sam Smith this fall, but in the meantime, listen to their cover below, and give the original tune a spin as well. More »

Enchanting everyone in sight with her smokey, languid vocals on Rudimental’s “Powerless”, UK’s latest pop darling Becky Hill recently released her Two Inch Punch-produced debut single “Caution To The Wind,” which now has a video to go along with it.

Directed by Fred Rowson, the mastermind behind the visual for DVBBS, Borgeous and Tinie Tempah’s collab club track “Tsunami,”  the “Caution To The Wind” clip explores the passing of time.  It’s beautifully animated and follows the progression of life, whether it is through people’s age or the landscape around us. More importantly, however, it not-so-subtly let’s us all know that, regardless of its progression, the world will still keep on spinning and spinning…. and spinning.
